Just in time for Halloween-- always low prices!

Just in time for Halloween, Wal-Mart has announced that they will start selling caskets.

I don't know if I'd want to buy one or get buried in it though. Virtually every product sold at Wal-Mart is produced by the cheapest manufacturer they can find (almost always overseas) and there have been a number of product recalls as a result. I keep having this image of being carried down the aisle by pallbearers and all of a sudden the bottom falls out and I fall down right in the middle of them.

Boo!

Most of those recalls are for baby cribs and other infant products. You'd think people would have gotten the message.

Always low prices? That sounds like the Republican slogan: Always tax cuts...for the rich.

Funny post. Boo to you, too.

sandy,

There is nothing that Wal-Mart won't stoop to in order to make a quick buck.

Importing goods made in sweatshops? Always. Hiring undocumented workers to clean their floors for as little as $2 a night? They've been caught doing that too. Systematically paying women less? It took a lawsuit to fix that. Forcing workers to work during their lunch breaks and off the clock? Yup, they've done that too. What about hiring kids and assigning them to do dangerous tasks that they were legally not allowed to do unsupervised? Yup, they've done that also. Sending out a memo about how to fire workers with six years of service since in year seven they'd be eligible for retirement benefits? Yes, that too.

They hit all the bases, at least they spread the misery around.
