On April Fool's Day,
George Bush slept in and didn't realize it was April already. But he is still a fool.
Richard Cheney told Dick Whittington, "Don't worry, I'm watching you... April Fool! BANG!!
Condi Rice said that we had made 'thousands of tactical errors in Iraq.' Then she said 'April Fool.' (unfortunately, this is accurate).
Al Gore said he will run for President in 2008. Then he said, 'April Fool.'
Donald Rumsfeld told the President that things are still on track in Iraq. The President believed him.
Congress passed a law giving undocumented workers exactly one year to apply for guest worker status. There is a secret provision in the law stating that one year from today, once we know who they are and where they live, they will all be rounded up, told 'April Fool,' and put on a plane out of the country.
The Arizona legislature agreed to quit complaining and fund English learner programs. Just below where the Governor is supposed to sign the funding, it says, 'April Fool.'
"George Bush slept in and didn't realize it was April already. But he is still a fool"...
ReplyDeleteThis is my fav!
Martin Sabo (D) from MN Congressional District 5, has served in the U.S. House for as long as I can remember, back to the 80's I think.
ReplyDeleteHe announced his retirement out of the blue a couple of weeks ago - no one expected it.
This is a blue seat - the GOP won't even run a challenger there. MN CD5 went for Dennis K. in the 2004 Democratic presidential primary.
Needless to say, a dozen aspirants for the position popped up the next day and the race is all the buzz. Since it's unchallenged, it's likely to be decided by the political activists who attend the endorsement conventions.
Well - Sabo has been making the rounds of all the conventions saying goodbye to the people he's represented (well) for the last 20+ years and on April 1st he spoke to the convention delegates in his home senate district. :)
He's been a politican too long to make an "April's Fool" joke and say with a straight face that he was back in the race - but you could see the joy and impishishness in his 68 year old face as he contemplated out loud to the delegation about the chaos that would ensue if he did.
Chaos theory as applied to politics simply has to be better than the system we now espouse.
